All of these pieces form part of the Ceramic Wales Exhibition at LoveClay that had to be cancelled due to COVID-19.
They are made with either Valentines Crank, KGM or a mixture with other recycled clays. Glazed in a dry, matt barium/copper glazes and fired to cone 5.
Simon studied ceramics at Wirral College of Art and Design and Braintree College, Essex. His first workshop was established in New Brighton, Wirral in 1987 and has been a full-time professional maker since, the last 10 years being based in Liverpool. Simon has been employed at many workshops abroad including time in Greece, Bermuda, Norway and Bequia in the Caribbean.
His work has been exhibited extensively through U.K galleries and he has also taught at Wirral Metropolitan College and St Helens College of Art.
As well as producing his own work Simon also teaches throwing modules at Glyndwr University, Wrexham and is the throwing consultant/demonstrator for Claycraft magazine.
His work is becoming increasingly sculptural. The textural qualities of various clays being enhanced with matt glazes.
